WWF-Hong Kong released the annual reports of two business-focused climate programmes: the Low-Carbon Manufacturing Programme (LCMP) and the Low-Carbon Office Operation Programme (LOOP). The performance of both programmes continues to be highly encouraging: in the past year, 24 LCMP-accredited factories avoided a total of 134,000 tonnes of carbon emissions versus the “business-as-usual” scenario. This was the largest carbon reduction ever recorded since the launch of the programme in 2009. Bolstering these results is the fact that these companies experienced a cumulative growth of 92 per cent in their business volume; showing that it is possible for companies to thrive and adopt robust carbon reduction measures at the same time.
